A few days ago I read this post from Mommy of a Monster & Twins, and spent about 20 minutes being a total voyeur. I love looking at other people’s pictures – even if I don’t know the people. There’s just something about getting a glimpse into another’s life.
The camera catches a blip in time, and unless you’re the subject there’s no way to correctly guess precisely what the subject was thinking at that moment. When we look at pictures, we feel like part of the story, even with miles and years between us and the photograph. I got sucked into the wedding pictures, because one word kept coming to mind: Hope. No matter what the picture, it screamed Hope.
So after I looked at everyone else’s pictures, I decided maybe I should earn my nosy keep by posting a picture of my own. Now keep in mind two things:
- The scanner isn’t working. So this is a picture of a picture (taken on an iPhone, no less). The original, thanks to Jack Puryear Photography, is very nice quality. You, however, will need to use your imaginations a bit on that front.
- I couldn’t pick a favorite.
I decided to post this one, because it was the last picture taken of us before we left our reception. Here we are, almost 15 years ago, headed for the rest of our lives. How much more hopeful can you get?

OMG…you guys look so young and full of hope!
You are just lovely!!!!
This made my day.
“Headed for the rest of your lives”…boom. Such a perfect picture and phrase in my humble opinion 😉
Lovely.
You two look SO young! And that’s coming from a bride who everyone said looked young!
LOVE a 1996 wedding.
I hope you didn’t get stuck dancing to the Macarena, too.
(but it was so worth it, right?)
Cheers to you both. Love endures…
You both look completely happy! So wonderful!!!
What a great photo! I love how it’s posed, yet still so candid. You haven’t aged a day, lady!
Love that picture! We have one like it on our mantle!
Love this picture! Love the huge grins!
These pics of the “hope” are my favorite…because we all seemed to be so young and so hopeful. Beautiful pic and thank you for linking up!
Beautiful! Absolutely beautiful in so many ways. It just makes me smile.
Love the pic and the air of hope in both of your eyes. Really touching.
Missy, that is one gorgeous wedding photo! And it looks so vintage. You look like you were plucked out of Grace Kelly’s scrapbook. Seriously.
I’ll have to go over and check out all the pics.
You both look so happy and in love!
Love your big grins!
I am such a sucker for wedding photos! Gorgeous you are!
What a beautiful picture – love the smiles. That’s joy and love in bloom!
What a beautiful bride! I love these. Since I have been married 2x I was kind of thinking I wouldn’t participate, but I just might after looking at all of these pics!
Aw, look at you two. Darling picture Missy!
