Oooo. A Saturday post. But not really. This isn’t a post-post. It’s a quick update-y, take-a-look kind of post.
I’m back from vacation, and it’s a mixed bag, to be honest.
We were all sad to leave our friends and the gorgeous mountain weather; but we’re all glad to be home and in our own beds again. Even good sleepers can act like lunatics on vacation, so it’s nice to have the kids in their rooms again. Sweet little P was especially overjoyed to see his house and car. He looked at me about three days into vacation and asked, “My home all gone?”
Poor kid thought we had abandoned ship and it kind of broke my heart. Apparently, at two, you don’t “get” vacation.
We’re also looking forward to catching up with friends and family over the next week. And to gearing up for school to start. Don’t be surprised if you see multiple posts about kindergarten. The thought of sending H into the real world of big kid school makes my stomach knot up. I don’t know if it’s excitement, nerves, sadness, anxiety, anticipation… I suspect all of the above.
And our big vacation re-entry bummer: our sprinkler system broke while we were gone, leaving the yard crispy. I know it’s one of those first world problems and, in the scheme of things, it’s small. We can repair this. Some of the plants might not even die. Maybe. It still makes me sad, though. I like to be a good steward of all I have, and watching my plants and lawn take their last gasps is depressing.
[Imagine a craftily written transition here. I am in the midst of mountains of laundry and all the other vacation re-entry stuff, so there’s not so much time for crafty transitions. Above, you have the “Updates” portion; below, you will see the “General Housekeeping” and “Miscellaneous Stuff.”]
I recently heard from a couple people who thought I didn’t blog anymore. It seems they thought I would send them an email every time I posted. They are not bloggers (was that obvious?), so I told them how to get the email updates.
Then I realized that maybe other people need this same information. Because I am sure you all sit around thinking, “Where are Missy’s blog updates? I’m lost without them!”
Here’s the deal.
Look at the right-hand sidebar, near the top. See where it says, “Follow Wonder, Friend”? It looks like this:
There are four ways to keep up with the blog there, and you can pick any or all.
If you’re not a blogger or general internet addict, you might not use an RSS feed or Twitter (the orange square and the square with the “t” in it). I’d be happy to help you learn how to use both, though, if you’re interested. Just let me know.
Most of the world uses Facebook, though, even if you’re not an SMJ (Social Media Junkie).
I do more Facebooking on the Wonder, Friend page than I do on my personal FB page. If you want to connect with me on FB, this is the place to do it (you can “friend” me through Missy at Wonder Friend, too, if you’re so inclined).
By the way, the Wonder, Friend Facebook page is lonely, people. Really lonely. So go over there and “Like” it, won’t you? I promise I don’t over-post. Some days I post questions, every once in a while I put links to blog posts, and occasionally I post basic status updates.
As for that StumbleUpon square (the blue and green one with the SU on it), admittedly I don’t Stumble much. But I’m gonna. Really, I am. So feel free to follow me there if you’re a Stumbler, and let me know so I can return the favor.
Now, if you prefer to get posts through email, you can do that, too. Right under the four social media icons, there’s a “Get Wonder, Friend by Email” section. It looks like this:
Just put your email address in that box and click “Subscribe.” You’ll get an email from Feedburner asking for you to confirm your subscription (and you may have to type some letters/numbers into a box just to confirm you’re a human and not a spammy robot). Once you confirm your subscription, you will start getting an email every time I post.
So that’s how you can keep up with the blog. Aren’t you relieved?
One last thing I wanted to point out is the Juice in the City box over there on the sidebar. It looks like this:
No matter where you live in the world, you should see the Juicy Deals closest to you. You can click through my site and buy some amazing stuff. Yes, I will get money if you click through my site. And yes, I just might buy you presents with that money, so it’s a win-win.
Okay, updates, etc. over.
I’ll be back with post-posts next week. As soon as I figure out how to manage the tinder box that is now my yard, and crawl out from under the piles of laundry.

Welcome back you. The real world blows big nasty laundry piles. I’m still doing my camping unpacking from a week ago. Sigh.
My sin just turned three today and I think a part of me wants to vomit because next year he goes to school. EEKS. That is scary biz.
Daughter starts Kindergarten tomorrow. It’s certainly bittersweet. Good luck to H on the first day of school.
Good luck to your sweetie with school.
And that juice in the city sounds cool.
xo
My idea after getting back from our trip: a post-vacation/trip laundry service that will 1) unpack your bags for you, 2) launder the mountain of clothes, and 3) put them all back where they belong.
Glad you are back. Reentry is a bit hard. As I’m discovering today. Ugh, reality. And school approaching.
Good luck with the kindergarten milestone. I cried like a baby. In the hallway. Alone. Absolutely pathetic.
xoxox
“My home all gone?” just about breaks my heart. What a sweetie. And what a great reminder of the way our kids see the world when we’re seeing it so differently.
Can’t wait to hear more about your family’s transition to big kid school. Sending strength and good wishes to all of you!
