Pegged 501s and izod shirts with the collar up, was sooo my style! My mom wouldn’t buy me name brands very often so I saved up all my babysitting money and bought my Guess overalls that I couldn’t live without.

I too, had to beg for a pair of these stylish pants. My mom finally broke down and bought me a pair of light grey ones, however they were not “true” parachute pants but rather a knock off pair. Anyway, I chose to wear them proudly to school, but it was quickly pointed out to me (by almost all of my classmates) that these were not the “name brand” pants because my printed underwear could clearly be seen through the pants. I had to wear these lovely pants all day with my undies showing thru. I was completely horried! Needless to say, I never wore them again and despise parahute pants to this day. Oh, the joy of an 80’s trend!!!

Oh, Alex, I loved that banana clip, too! Just might have to go get a new one. Ha. Jelly shoes! That’s something else I had to beg for. I was finally allowed to have a pair, but could only wear them to the pool. Turns out that they were extremely uncomfortable (hmmm… cheap, plastic shoes – imagine those being uncomfortable!). My feet were bleeding by the time I got to the pool.

I could’ve gotten them – but they didn’t fit me! I wasn’t skinny enough, I guess. I also wanted those jazz shoes that were in. But no. I did, however, rock the purple acid-washed tapered-legged Bonjour jeans. OH YES I DID! I was sooo cool. I was a total child of the 80s. I wore legwarmers (they came back), miniskirts (still around), fluorescent sweatshirts that read “O BOY” (they went far away and never returned, thankfully). I had a mullet. I used to carry a huge comb in my back pocket with the words “Rotten Kid” on it. I had awful designer jeans – Jordache didn’t fit me and my mom made me get some weird pair at Marshall’s.

I’ll stop scaring you now..
